He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (ESV)
I lay in bed, listening to my son’s happy chatter across the hall. It was 5:14 am. Why was he awake?
I was looking down the barrel of a sixteen-hour-day. My hubby was coaching that evening, and I would be flying solo from wake-up to bedtime. Days like these were always long and hard.
As I thought through the day, my chest tightened. I didn’t want to do any of it. Not the dishes, not the laundry, not the meals, not the diapers, not the tantrums, not the bath times, not the bedtimes. It was too much.
Feeling a sudden urge to run away, I pulled a pillow over my head and prayed, “Oh Lord, please, please help me get through this day. Give me glimpses of Your joy! Help me be a good mom to my babies, today.”
Determined, I got up and started our day. Soon there were giggles, and snuggles, and big, open-mouth baby kisses. A few minutes later there was coffee, and worship music, and a kitchen dance party. My chest loosened and a hopeful thought blossomed: We can do this. Today will be a good day.
Some days faith is admitting we need help and then moving forward knowing God will help us as we go. Have faith today, Mama. He sees you! He cares for you! Today is another chance to seek Him and experience His faithfulness. You can do this… because He will do it with you.
Press on, Mama!
