If you’ve been on this planet for more than a few minutes, you’ve probably experienced seasons of suffering or disappointment. Maybe you’re in one of those seasons right now. In the middle of unbearable pain or shattered plans, we often cling to the hope of what’s to come. Sometimes it feels like hope is only reserved for heaven, when God will restore all brokenness. But I believe the Lord wants to show us glimpses of His restoration right here, right now.

I’ve recently come out of a season of loss and am experiencing the breathtaking view of the Lord rebuilding my life. It looks different than I expected, but it is still so beautiful. During my suffering, I had a clear idea of how I thought the Lord should restore what the locust had eaten. And while the Lord hasn’t given me the ending I asked for, His plans have absolutely blown me away. He’s given me opportunities I never expected, put joy in my heart and on my lips, and even added an adorable puppy to our household. 

Mama, maybe you have your own version of what restoration should look like. Or maybe you think your situation is beyond repair. Whatever ideas you have about the Lord’s redemption, I promise that His ideas are even better. His love for you, His daughter, is great–He will not withhold good from you. The swarming locusts may have stolen something precious from you, sweet mama, but God is in the business of creating beauty from ashes.
