“Mom, I wasn’t invited to the sleepover!” My daughter's gray eyes shimmered, as tear after tear spilled down her cheeks. We are in the thick of friend drama right now, and as hard as it was to go through as a kid, it’s even harder as a mom. Watching my sweet girl battle with insecurity and wondering why she wasn’t chosen absolutely breaks my heart.
As I listened and processed through these situations with her, a resolution crystallized in my heart: I will be the voice of truth in her life. When the fickle winds of friends’ opinions threaten to overwhelm her, I will be her anchor—set firmly in God’s Truth.
And the best way I can do that? By believing the Truth, myself. While my days of playground drama are long gone, I still struggle with insecurity too. I still long to be included. It still hurts when I’m not.
Today’s verse is a powerful reminder that when the world overlooks you, God never does. In fact, before He made the world, God loved you and chose you. You, with all your quirks and imperfections. You, with your passions and talents and flair! God chose you to be known, to be loved, and to be saved by Him.
When we internalize this truth—believing it to our core—the very way we live our lives will be transformed. And that transformation will impact our children! Mama, let’s show them what it looks like to live as chosen and beloved children of the Most High God! Let’s ground ourselves in the miraculous truth that in His eyes, we are holy and without fault. And when the world neglects to invite them, let’s remind them, they are chosen.

What do you feel when you run up against God’s mystery? What emotions emerge when you realize there are some things about God you simply cannot (and will not) understand?
For me, I often feel frustrated. I like to have the whole picture. I like to feel in control. And in a world where Google provides the instant information I need, it can feel disorienting to be told, “You don’t need to know.”
Yet, as I grow in my faith, I have come to find a kind of joy when faced with the unknown. There’s a thrill in the reminder that our God is so big I simply cannot fathom all His ways. After all, would we prefer to have a God that is so small we could explain and understand everything He does? I would argue that if we could, He would be no God at all.
No, it is this mystery, this unfathomable, unsearchable, inscrutable, truth that makes our God so great—so worthy of our wonder and awe!
So the next time you run up against God’s unsearchable ways, challenge yourself to find the other side of your frustration. Challenge yourself to find joy in the unknown.

When my daughter was born, I made a playlist of wo

When my daughter was born, I made a playlist of worship lullabies and played it every night as she went to sleep. To this day, she falls asleep to worship music. One of my favorite songs on the list was Nicole Nordeman’s version of the hymn, “How Deep the Father’s Love”.
The first few lines go like this:
“How deep the Father’s love for us
How vast, beyond all measure
That He would give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure…”
As you have time this week, I invite you to listen to this song. As you listen, allow the truths to sink into your heart all over again, as you consider how deep the Father’s love for you truly is. We'll link to the song in our bio.

As I rocked my newborn son, I softly sang his name

As I rocked my newborn son, I softly sang his name and stroked his cheek. “Luuuucas…I love you, sweet boy.” His dark, round eyes searched my face, content but unseeing.
It struck me that while he was captivated by my voice, he didn’t understand my words. He felt comforted by my presence, yet he didn’t know my name. He couldn’t fathom my plans for him or grasp why sometimes I held him close, and other times, I laid him down.
Holding him, I marveled, "That’s how we are with You, isn’t it God?"
Like our children, as we grow and spend time with God, we come to know His Name, character, heart, and will for us. I have walked with God for over twenty years now. While I know more about Him than when I first began, there is still so much I don’t know and never will.
As much as we may long to understand everything God does, the truth is, His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. And really, isn’t that a good thing? Would He truly be God if He could be fully understood?
As I grow in my faith, I am coming to terms with the wonder and joy of our unfathomable God. I thank Him for the ways He has revealed Himself to me. I am grateful that He desires to be known. But I also thank Him for His mystery, judgments, and plans—because even if I cannot understand them, I know they are good. And trusting this, I can rest in His arms, as content as a newborn child.
